I did very well with working out from last July - October, but in November and December I kind of let things go a little. I was going on regular runs, 4 - 10 miles and started cycling on my new road bike I got through a cycle to work scheme. I did 31 miles one day! I went out on my bike for the first time in weeks on Saturday and I'm wanting to exercise at least twice a week from now on. I am creating this thread to log what I have done. I am about to go out on a run now. Please feel free to join in and post your exercise log, I'm sure there are tonnes of you wanting to exercise more for the new year - so join in so we can keep each other motivated! Corinne x

Hi Corrine, you asked how often I run. Well I started running exactly a year ago and built up from once a week to 2 - 3 times a week on the road. I loved the progress I made during the year although due to injury then dark evenings I missed out on weeks of runs since mid October so I've really slipped back again but looking forward to getting back on my feet this season!

Oh no, what injury?
It's surprising how addictive running is, isn't it? And very easy to get into! I went from running a mile to running 10 miles in about a month, I always thought I was crap at running. I can't say I'm fast, but I have endurance!
Don't let the dark stop you - I still go out in the evening and just run along a main road.

Just did another run, only 3 miles though, I felt it kind of tough today! I am off work again tomorrow so hopefully I will run again then too. Pictures I took :

Keep it up! Before I fell ill I was getting quite into my health and fitness - going for daily jogs, eating well and lifting weights. It's a shame I can't continue with that at the moment

Oh that's not good, what is wrong with you, if you don't mind me asking?

No I don't mind at all! I have pancreatitis as a result of a parasite infection I caught last year. Basically my pancreas aint working properly so as well as bad stomach pains, my body isn't absorbing any of the nutrients it should from food. I get tired really easily so can't really do a whole lot of exercise =/ On the plus side though I don't have to worry about getting fat anytime soon haha

Oh right, does that mean you don't gain weight? I'd be up for that!

Yeah. It's funny because I was overweight as a teen and I used to always be one of these people who'd put weight on really easily. Now I'm like... at the complete other end of that spectrum, don't seem to gain weight at all haha

I guess you have to look at the positives, right?
I read on your blog that you've been advised to quit smoking? Are you thinking about trying I quit on 1st October last year if you want any help at all!

Yeah one of my New Years resolutions is to 'maintain a positive outlook' so I'm doing my best. It still gets me down sometimes, but hey ho!
Well done on quitting, that's great! I've tried to quit in the past, but to be honest - as bad as it sounds, I enjoy smoking too much. I'd like to quit at some point down the line - or if my health really deteriorated to a point of it being an absolute necessity - but right now I don't really WANT to quit, if you know what I mean?

Oh yeah, know what you mean! I didn't want to quit either and did it for my health. I love smoking, I love that feeling when you drink and smoke, I love driving and smoking, I love rolling cigarettes, I love sitting in my car and smoking when I'm at work. But I didn't like the head rush, the tiredness and how I would feel when I woke up. I generally felt lazy when I smoked and started worrying about what it was doing to me. I have been saying I've wanted to stop for years, but just loved it to much! Tried and failed many times. This is the longest I've gone since I was 19 when I stopped for a year ago.
My e-cig has been my life saver! I didn't like it at all at first but it's all I need now. I have liquid that has no nicotine in now and only really use it sometimes when I'm drinking and when drinking.
How many do you smoke a day and how long have you been smoking?

Yeah I totally relate to all that! I like the social aspect of smoking too - that's how I started. I suppose with your e-cig you don't lose out on that, maybe I'll try one out myself when I'm in the right mindset to quit! Good on you for quitting - I know a lot of people who just don't have the willpower to quit. Been smoking since I was 16. I smoke rollups, between 12.5 and 25 grams a week usually.
