Do any of you guys have some sort of blogging calendar? Where you post about specific topics on specific days? Or in general how do you decide what to post when?
I'm still new and so only posting once a week as I build a collection of posts and post ideas...but I would ideally like to move (slowly) towards posting every day...so I was considering theme days. I thought I could incorporate like a food themed post day and such. I thought maybe it would help with post ideas too if I had a theme to stick to.
If you do have themes, do you have quirky names? How did you come up with them? Does it help or stifle your creativity too much?

I don't really have a blogging calendar but I do try to think about when I am going to write my post and when to schedule it for. I usually try to post a new blog every other day, or every 3 days if I am working a lot. I don't have a specific topic for different days, but I've seen many bloggers that do.
I used to post every day but it got too time consuming and I felt like I wasn't posting great quality, just stuff for the sak e ofit.
There's lots of quirky names you can use that are well know already (wishlist Wednesday for example) or just make up your own!
Does make sure you aren't making things to unrealistic - like if you commit to do a food post every Sunday, for example, make sure this is something achievable.
Maybe start by posting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and doing something different each day. There are tonnes of things to do, food related, creative, homely, fashion, makeup, skincare, relationships, travel how your week has been etc.
Just ensure you don't put too much pressure on yourself to update about a certain topic on a certain day as it could take the fun out of blog and make you feel restricted or compromise the quality of your content.

I currently post 4-5 days a week, and I always make sure I have the weekends off. I work as a copywriter so I also need to make sure I take some time away from constantly writing (I am doing my Master's Degree too - so much writing). I usually only stick too two main topics, that's Meatless Monday & Fashion Friday, the rest of the days are a little more fluid and I write whatever takes my fancy.

How is it going ayankinblighty? Have you managed to find any theme days you like yet?

I've got a list of a couple ideas, but I'm putting it on the back burner for now to not get too ahead of myself! I think I'll stick with the slower pace for a bit.

Content calendars are extremely helpful - especially if you plan to blog frequently. Creating theme days is an excellent idea! The types of themes you create really depend on your writing style. If your style is quirky then by all means create quirky theme names. Check out the link in my signature, I have a class on editorial calendars that will help you plan, write for your audience and there's an editorial calendar download at the end!

When I first started blogging I had no form of calendar or schedule and it resulted me in me not blogging very often. At the start of this month I put a schedule into place that involved posting a fashion post on a Monday, beauty on Wednesday and a random post on Friday. I've also been managing to post extra posts during the week (I don't post on weekends). I've mostly stuck to this calendar and while there has been a few occasions (for example this week) where I have had to switch posts due to certain circumstances, I've definitely found it has helped me with my posting! Especially as I schedule my posts in my agenda so I know it needs to be up for a certain day

I try and post on mondays, wednesdays and fridays but don't tend to stick to a theme. The 'off' days then leave me space for if I need to post something at short notice, such as a PR sample or something that is time-limited.

I need to post again because what I said in January is now invalid! Ha.
I started posting daily in March. It was kind of unintentional, to be honest. I just had a lot of things I wanted to talk about as well as an increase in PR samples.
I kind of had to start using an editorial calendar. Although it's not very fancy but does the job! I was able to easily sort out posts in my head and have an idea when I was going to post what, but I knew when I started blogging more and having more things to post about, I needed to write them down so I wouldn't forget.
I use the Apple Calendar app, which is really handy because it syncs up my mac, my mac book, my phone and ipad so I can make changes whenever. I basically just write the title on whatever day I plan on publishing. It's really easy to move things around too incase I need to bring things closer or further away.
I usually have about 3-4 weeks of posts planned in my calendar with spare couple of days for anything else that comes up. I've found myself having to post twice a day a few times to get relevant stuff out, or pushing some things back.
I have so many posts to get out that just are not happening because I don't have enough days! I'm on holiday from work next week and I think I might have a few double post days just to get some of this content published!
