I've had twitter for YEARRRRSSSSSS. But I've not really used it much. I've only tweeted 3000 times on my personal account, and I've had it for 8 years.
I've only recently been active on twitter, since I started a new account for the forums and my blog and I've noticed a lot of people favouriting my tweets. Sometimes this makes sense, like I'm chatting with somebody and I say something funny. But sometimes the same person will favourite the last 10 tweets or so, not interact with me any other way and just gooooo. It's weird.
I use favourites as a bookmark. I sometimes do it if it's a good tweet, but usually I just RT good tweets.
If sometime sends me a link to their blog, for example, and I don't have time to visit it at that moment, I'll favourite it and then come back to it later. Then, when I've read the link or whatever, I'll unfavourite it so I know it's done.
How do you use the fav button?

I do it because either I really like what they're saying but have nothing to add to it or say in response OR because I want to refer back to it later. I do it quite a lot in the blog chats - I think it's because they move so fast! I see favouriting a tweet as sort of like 'liking' it on Facebook - if I fave. your tweet consider it as me giving you a virtual thumbs up

Yeah, the chats do move very fast! I always want to check out somebody's blog in the middle of it but don't have time, so I'll bookmark a tweet by them so I can check it out later.

I usually favourite things if I have nothing to respond to, or just as a thing to let people know I've read it

It's weird that people use it in so many different ways!

I use it as a bookmark too. Or if it's something I really like that I want to 'keep'

I use the little star as a bookmark as well! I usually check Twitter from my phone so if I want to check a link it's easier for me just favorite the Tweet and then go back to it when I am at my computer! Or I just favorite tweets when they make me laugh, or I can relate. If it something I think as well, I retweet. But I seldom retweet. I favorite a lot though. I think it's a nice thing to do if you like what someone tweets, even if it's only to show them that someone out there is reading and enjoying what they tweet!

It's nice to see others bookmark them!
I also use them in the twitter chat I host - so I can put together a post of my favourite responses to each question.

I favourite them as my way of saying yes I like what you're saying. I didn't realise there was a way to see the tweets you've favourited, it would be so handy to use it as a little bookmark x

Book marking is still my favourite way of using them although I do use it as an acknowledgement from time to time

I use them in chats to indicate to people that I like their tweets, to let someone know I've read their tweet if I'm not going to reply or to bookmark things I'm particularly interested in.
I do find myself favouriting more and more - I think I need to scale it back a bit!

I've only been on twitter a week or so but I usually use it to show I like or agree with the post. x
