The other day someone followed me on Twitter...they were a blogger...quite a bit younger than me and focusing on topics that I read sometimes but aren't my main priority...but I followed them back because I feel like it's nice to show appreciation and they could potential post something that interests me
Then today they unfollowed me (I signed up to that unfollowme site because I wanted to see if there were any trends etc I could identify to help improve my social media use) is it really bad form if I unfollowed them as well? I don't remember seeing any tweets from them and checking the profile nothing stood out as catching my eye. However for some (probably ridiculous and silly) reason I feel kind of rude.
What are your thoughts? When and how do you decide to follow or unfollow people?

Unfollow! Sounds like a 'follow for follow' person who collects followers. I wouldn't feel too bad if they unfollowed first.

Ahh good. Yeah I thought that might be it. i don't mind following people that follow me and I love when people do and I even don't mind if someone has followed me for awhile and then if my tweets weren't of interest to them unfollowing...but I do think its a shame that people follow for a couple days and then unfollow...that's just rude!

The most annoying one i've had (still going on) is the person keeps following /unfollowing and it has happened at least 5 times. I keep getting notification that this person has started following you and i'm like i thought she was already following me?
I'm like, make up your mind for god's sake. First i use to ignore but now it's getting a bit too much and i feel like telling that person to stop following me.

I always get people unfollowing and the weirdest people following me, like accounts that don't seem to be anything to do with my blog niche?
I just try not to think about it. I'll follow somebody on twitter if I like their blog, if they've joined the forum of if I've had some communication with them on twitter - usually if I get into a conversation on twitter chats.
I never follow back just because they've followed me!
I sometimes unfollow people if they are tweeting to much spam which isn't of interest to me.
I've just remembered about the site that identifies inactive accounts you can unfollow - I might do that now!

I find that lots of people on twitter do that; they follow, wait a few days, then unfollow, this then skews their following and follower numbers, making them seem more of a big deal than they are; most of us see our follower numbers change and don't instantly know who unfollowed. I would unfollow- you are more than a number

This site where you can identify inactive accounts sounds very handy!! Would anyone mind linking? I would definitely unfollow, seems as though they're just after a lot of followers!!
