I have tried several different ways of losing weight, and had quite a bit of success with a points counting app, similar to weight watchers. I found that it made me make more careful decisions about the types of food I ate, but when I did have a bad day and eat bad food, my points would quickly get swallowed up. I am now trying MyFitnessPal and am finding it a little easier, as I don't have to think about what I'm eating, just counting the calories. It allows me to be more flexible with what I eat.
I was wondering if anyone had experience with MFP or points counting and what your thoughts were? Which method has been most effective for you?

I prefer calorie counting, or more generally just eating well than point counting.
I used myfitnesspal to track weight loss and sometimes to count calories but I'm not great at filling in what I ate!
Currently I'm just eating less. Thinking of starting a weight loss thread on here to track progress.

I'd be interested in a thread - I need all the motivation I can get! I'm using MFP at the moment and it's doing a good job of reducing my portion sizes, and really making me think 'Do I actually need that bit of chocolate?!'

Hurrah, motivation buddies! I'll set a thread up to track progress then =)
I track my weight in my editorial calendar (haha, weird) and I don't track food really, I just know what I should be eating and there are certain things I'll let myself eat if I get hungry, like fruit or a veg stir fry. I have a very active job and walk around 5-8 miles a day (according to my moves app).
I use map my ride also to track running/cycling.
