Lately I have been getting A LOT of emails from PR companies asking me to create a post, mentioning their client (with links), and then to send them the link to my post and they "will share our favourites on social media".
Um WTF!?
So you want me to create content that includes back links for your client, for free on the promise that I MAY, POSSIBLY, be chosen for a shout out on social media?
Look, perhaps if any of them were actually from a brand that I would love to work with or be associated with, but really? How is this fair?
Creating a post takes at least an hour or two hours depending on what the content is, why do these PR people think it's ok to ask bloggers to create content that mentions their client, for no compensation whatsoever? As if a POSSIBLE shout out on social media is sufficient?
Or am I missing something here???
