Tell me the story of why you blog! What does it give to you and how did you start out?
I'll post mine later, it's bed time now, doom!

I've always loved to write (as a kid/teen I used to keep journals) and enjoyed reading other peoples blogs. I guess I just wanted a bit of a platform to air my views and comment on events and stuff in the media. I love having a blog because if something really bothers me, or gets me riled up, I have a place to vent and let off steam. Equally, if something inspires or enlightens me I enjoy sharing it with my readers

I've had blogs and online diaries on and off since I was around 16/17. I stopped basically all together when I was about 22 and didn't really keep a diary, apart from a paper one which I updated probably three times a year. I've had it since I was 20, it's kind of full of doom and woe though haha.
One of my best friends, who I actually met through the internet when I was 19, started doing a fashion blog in December 2012. I hadn't seen her in about 3 years because we kind of lost touch, we live about 30 miles away and we just never really got the chance to see her much! I liked the idea and was talking to her about it for a bit and I decided to make one of my own. She has stopped blogging now but I have carried on (I really didn't think I could last this long!)
It's been an adventure for sure, I really enjoy it and it kind of makes me feel like my free time is being used in a positive and productive way, rather than wasting all my time playing Call of Duty and Minecraft.

I've always liked the idea of blogging and sharing experiences and thoughts. I've had a couple of failed blog attempts in the past...but I never found that perfect subject that got me excited enough to stick with it...then after I moved to the UK I thought for about a year about trying blogging here...but wasn't sure, then one day in the shower the name A Yank in Blighty popped in my head and I was sold. It was catchy and I could blog about being an expat...and it would give me a place to vent my frustrations on English life (like why are dryers so rare, at least in rentals...and why are there not screens on the window to prevent flies from coming in the house in the Summer...especially when there's no air conditioning so the windows HAVE to be open) and a place to share the awesome bits...(I could be in Paris in just over 2 hours...every band, show, movie, celebrity worth mentioning comes to London...I can go and see Matt freaking Smith in American Psycho (yeah I blogged about it bit.ly/19gb7MW) and have him sign my program after the show.) I'm starting slow with a post a week but I've got a huge list of topics for future posts and have never been so excited about the prospect of sharing so I think this time it might actually stick (plus a girl has to have something to focus on when she's going on 4 months of unsuccessful job hunting :/ ...gets a bit depressing otherwise!)

Haha, I have never thought about that but why are there not screens on the windows? Especially in summer when it is moth/daddy long legs galore! We don't have a dryer, we didn't have one in are old house either. I just put my stuff on the airer, it isn't really an issue and saves a lot of money having it air dry!
Sorry to hear you've not been successful job hunting - have you been looking for anything in particular?

Mostly admin based for media but really pretty much anywhere...I think it's a strange mix of being over and under qualified...I have a Master's degree...but all my experience in US based and although most of the skills are transferrable sometimes the skill set just doesn't match up quite right so they have better candidates. Not the employers fault. Although I did apply for Boots and was denied based on my online assessment (a what would you do in this situation quiz) despite two and a half years of being a supervisor in retail...so pretty sure I know what to do in customer service situations...
As far as the airer goes it's not so bad...nice days in the summer are great but in the winter and this flat is so damp (though my last one wasn't as bad and things dried much faster) things sometimes take 2 days to dry and we've worn as many clothes as we've washed! We've got a dehumidifier now which helps (but negates the energy savings!)

That sucks, my house is okay so things just try over night, apart from towels that take a bit longer. (wow, interesting conversation, hahaha)
That sucks about the job situation! A lot of companies have the online screenings now, we do where I work and some of the questions can be very tricky, I think it's because there are that many people looking for jobs they have to have a way to narrow it down! I'm sure you'll get there in the end!
